How to plan a new academic year without the last-minute scramble

The new session almost always arrives in a rush. Class lists are still moving, a couple of teachers have changed, and the timetable gets built the weekend before school opens. Start before the holidays, not after

The people who know your school best, which teacher is strong with which class, who is leaving, how divisions should split, are all present before the break. That is the moment to settle the shape of the coming year. Leave it until the holidays end and you are making those decisions in a hurry, with half the staff still away, in the same days you are meant to be opening the school.
